Does anyone have experience with international dating services (i.e. mail order brides)? I'm not looking to go with one right now. However, there really feels to me like there's a growing dearth of real ladies in the U.S., so it has my interest piqued.

Don't think that Russian mail order brides are any better than American women. From what I've heard, they are VERY materalistic. There are still good girls in the states, you just have to seek them out.

Like I mentioned, I'm not inclined to go down this road right now. I just like to keep my options open.

I've been communicating(emailing, writing, talking via phone) to a few from Russia, and the Ukraine, but have narrowed it down to one girl! She comes from the Ukraine! We have been communicating for almost a year! We plan to meet early summer!I agree with Spectrum, that there are still good girls to be found in the States, but it all depends on what you want! I personally decided to search out someone from Russia, or the Ukraine, as I get bored easily with the girls from back home! I am more European, then American, in my out look on life! Besides allot of these girls have allot of old fashioned values, and they have had a tough life, and know how to work hard and please a man!! This is the main reason I have went down this path! This is my opinion, but if you feel you would like someone a little different, with good old values, then perhaps this may be for you?

That's the main appeal of this to me, too. I'm a very traditional guy as far as gender roles go, and if the women in general are as advertised, it sounds like it could be right up my alley.

I went through a service! You get onto the website, and browse the photo's! Each photo, has a complete profile of each girl(physical stats, education, what she is looking for, her age range, etc., etc.!)Once you have chosen a few girls that you are attracted to, then you can purchase there addresses!In some cases you will be given their phone number, and email address, if they have provided one! Also it tells you how well they understand/speak English.Once you start communicating with a girl, and you find that you both are really into one another, the website will tell you and guide you in what you need to do in meeting her, and marriage etc. Sure there are some that want nothing but material gains, but reputable websites don't put up with girls of this caliber, in fact such websites vet their girls before they allow them to be put on their site!Most if not all have been to university, and have no hangups about getting with an older man!

I only date Eastern European girls ( and they are all hot, in shape, intelligent, and authentic), but they all come here. Why go look over there, when there are so many Eastern European students and summer workers in the US?

My only problem is the ones I wish would stay always go back home and the ones that stay turn into bitches and lose a lot of their qualities when they assimilate.

"Mail-order bride" is such a derogatory term. Yeah, it's applicable if you're truly so desparate you'll latch onto anything to be married within a few months. However, provided you do your homework and take things reasonably slow, there is nothing wrong with it.

Meeting people online is the way of the future. Experts say within 10 years there will be more marriages from couples that met through online personals than through the conventional means. It's not about being a loser, but about time. I hardly have the time to put any effort into meeting anyone. I work my ass off, workout religiously, and put spare-time into an entrepreneurial venture. Due to my commitment to my business venture, I am in sad financial shape right now, but that WILL improve. Using online resources, I could get to know someone right now, though I don't have a tremendous amount of time or money to invest in a relationship for a few more months. The ideal woman for me is near my height or taller, somewhat politically conservative, and loves exercise/health conscious. I am NOT interested in dating anyone that does not reflect some degree of each of those qualities. I can nip that stuff in the ass before I ever sink one minute or dollar into a personal meeting. What could be a better way of filtering people out?

I have not utilized any form of online dating services yet. I would be open to a possible relationship with anyone from anywhere and might well someday utilize a foreign dating service. Hey, I'm 29 and I'll be 30 before I put into time commitment into a serious search. I don't have time to deal with those women that have leftover adolescence mentality. Let's face it--American women are notorious for head games and I'm more impatient with that shit now than I was 10 years ago, and I don't know that I ever enjoyed such attitudes. Besides, a good foreign accent is a very sexy thing.

That all being said, most qualities I value could probably be found through a good American service such as eHarmony.

ITA. I only used the term "mail order bride" since that's more easily understood by most people than something like "foreign dating service".

Again, we're on the same page. Personally, I'm 26, which is mainly why I'm not looking to get into this straight away, but I am very curious about it. I also loathe the idea of going out with a woman only to find out she's a feminazi bitch half way through dinner. One or two wasted nights like that is one thing, but multiply that several times over and you're talking real time and money going down the drain. Even a lot of conservative women in the U.S. seem to be very shallow and self-centered with very little thought, if any, on how to act towards a gentleman and potential husband*.

I've heard of eHarmony, too. In fact, I went through some of their free questionnaire a while back (have yet to finish it, though). If appearances are indicative, it's a pretty rigorous filter. I've heard that the head shrinker that started it is close to Focus on the Family, which is a plus for me.

Well, I live in Mid Atlantic resort areas. Also from knwoing girlfriends friends and family, I know there are communities in the Chicago area. But in general I see an increase in students, workers, and travelers from Eastern Europe.

im not talking about you guys specifically, but nationally the only thing wrong with american women is that american men has let them turn us into a bunch of androgynous wimps. forget all that queer eye, dashboard confessionals, dr phil, and whatever sensitivity garbage. this isnt really a legitimate argument and kind of joking/halfway serious immature post, but i mean come on youve all seen it. the truly "rugged" (not the abercrombie kind) or unpolished male is dying. im not really putting together a good argument and this really just venting (ive done that a lot tonite), but if you guys know what i mean go ahead and respond or if you think im an idiot go ahead too its all welcome.

Actually, You are exactly right, and this is why I go for Eastern European chicks and they go for me. All the American chicks go for very wimpy "metrosexual" ( no disrespect to any genuine metros here)types, and I'm more a rugged individualist. With all due modesty I am one of the few genuine people I know. Everyone is so phony. I try not to generalize, but the American girls I know go for the phony types and guys who are prettier than they are. The Europeans I know however like rugged Americans and they also know the chick is supposed to be the "pretty" one.

You are exactly right, but I'm going to be myself. I am a capitalist, but I'm not going to change my product to fit in a market. I will take my product to the market where it is in demand.

Obviously, I knew you weren't looking at the subject in a negative light. I get frustrated by comments like that of Blu and their often more harsh from others. Hey, for some of us, meeting people can be hard. The internet opens up world of possibilities and you're not necessarily a loser for using such services. Gone are the days of one often marrying a school sweetheart. Many of us hit our late 20s/early 30s, realize we've not found any quality prospects, while realizes our lives are hectic to say the least.

At the recommendation of a coworker (chick), I tried it one rainy Saturday, just to see what it is like. Seemed like a great service. I left my account open for a couple days to see what would filter in for matches, but did not contact anyone and closed it down, as the time is not right for anything of substance.

I've read that most people don't get matches for several weeks, but then they start getting good results.
