l-lysine dosage

I've recently started taking l-lysine pills. The bottle's suggested use statement says to take up to one pill (500mg each) , twice daily. Should I increase the dosage for maximum effect, or is 1 gram a day sufficient?

It helps circulation. I take l-arginine too, btw.

I would take 2g a day, in two 1g doses.

Don't take it with the arginine as they both compete for the same enzyme for absorption. Space them out about 3 hours apart if you can for best results.

Don't expect too much either....

L-Lysine is great for cold sores though....and L-Arginine will increase the frequency and duration of cold sores.

I think l-lysine pills are best only for immune system performance improvement. If you are having recurrent cold sore infection then the first task you must concentrate is to reduce the Herpes Simplex Type 1 virus overgrowth in the body.

Due to Herpes Simplex virus, it is possible that your immune system as well as RBCs are degrading day by day. You also told that you are taking l-arginine pills too. By the way, can I know why are you taking these pills along with lysine pills. Why I am asking this because it is safe for you to use one type of tablets at one time. Do not try to disturb the hormonal balance in the body. If you have consulted with your doctor regarding these pills and he has given green signal for them then its ok.Otherwise, you need to reconsider your options of taking both pills at one time.
