Welcome back to the new system everyone. It has been one nightmare after another!
IF YOU HAVE PROBLEM GETTING IN! Contact [email protected] to get your password manually reset. The mailserver may not be running properly. That's not a problem at all. Once you're logged in, check your contents. If anything is off, repost it here, describing the issues. We'll get it fixed.
To recap:
Our old server was on borrowed time. Everything about it was either expired, expiring, or literally on pin nails, tapes, and threads holding it together. What unravelled it all up was the forum upgrade from the expired version 2.1 to version 2.3. All hell broke loose.
What did we do?
Upgrade the 2015 virtual server with better specifications. It will safeguard us for 10 more years. But during that time, we have to maintain it at optimal conditions at all time.
The old databases that housed the data:

What did we do?
- We have to migrate: a new server means we're starting at square one. We did not have any documents from when our original IT personnel were around. We have to go through this one painful step at a time, completely blind.
- We have to activate and register the new server: 15 days of constantly battling with the IT personnel from 5 different companies. Even when you paid them premium prices, all they said was, "Well, sorry, but it is what it is. We can only do our best." Yeah, sure. This is where we put our noses to the grind stones, and do our magic.
- Server reconfiguration: we lost count on how many times we have to reconfigure the server with different settings. 20+ years of settings, and we have to figure it all out from scratch. We're still figuring out the settings now while we're up and running.
- Migration of data: 12 days of pure nightmare. If there are techs out there, you know exact what we are talking about.

The old databases that housed the data:
- Old data: Old posts going back as far as 2003. Every few years, the database was being pulled from an old database system to a new one. The communication between the old database system do not work well with the new one. So what happened to the posts? It got scattered everywhere, not connecting to any one account. They are known as orphaned posts, media, and documents.
- Integration of data: Imagine us looking like idiots trying to force a large square block into a small little circle. Yeah. 2.7 millions posts cobbled together as strings of conversations. Anyone that stares at that long enough, all you see is shear madness. It took us a good 6 days of tries, retries, and brute-stringing the posts together to make sense of it all.
- Integration of lost media and documents: Our old server was choking on media files that did not have any place to go. They are orphaned from long ago. Searching through them and connecting them, it's a major surgery. Sleepness nights and lots of fluids later, it got up and running to a good extent.
